What is SiteRay? /

SiteRay is an automated tool which provides comprehensive and detailed analysis of websites. Think of it as an expert team in a box who can write you an objective website report at the speed of light.

Who is it for?

Website designers and owners. Designers can use SiteRay to help them sell more and build better websites. Website owners can use it to improve and test their websites.

What makes SiteRay insanely great?

Web designers can make money from it. Everyone can use it to improve their websites and save hours of time. SiteRay gives you more information about a website for less effort. See why you should use SiteRay.

How does it work?

Firstly, you need to tell SiteRay what websites you want to test. For most websites, this is as simple as providing a web address. You can optionally provide extra detail like desired keywords for search engines.

You then tell SiteRay to test the website, and what kind of report you would like. There are two main types: Summary reports and Comprehensive reports. Summaries are shorter and omit a lot of detail, which makes them ideal for non technical users, or sales prospects. Comprehensive reports are better for site owners or developers.

A report can take between 2 minutes and a couple of hours to run, depending on the site and complexity of the website. An average 100 page website will take about 5 minutes to test. You can queue up multiple reports if you wish.

Once completed, you'll be able to explore reports online, print, share and compare them.

The easiest way to understand SiteRay is to try it yourself. Start a free trial.

Can I test competitor websites?

Yes. Any website which is publicly available on the Internet can be tested. SiteRay does not know who 'owns' any given website.

How does SiteRay create a report?

SiteRay visits each page in a website, and explores all of the links it finds within that site. By doing so, it is able to see all of the content, imagery and code the site uses. This is called 'spidering', and is the same approach used by Google, Yahoo and other search engines to categorise the web. SiteRay also uses some publicly available information from third parties, such as Google, Alexa and W3C. Everything we get is from public sources.

All of this data is compiled together and converted into useful information by SiteRay's tests. For example, we look at the code on a page, convert this into plain text, and then spell check that text. The result is specific comments on what spelling errors a website contains. Every test works in the same way, but some are far more complex or intelligent than others.

Why "SiteRay"?

Think of it like "X-Ray". SiteRay can see right through your website.
